River Valley Church - Christmas at City Campus (12/22/2022 - 12/23/2022)

Christmas services are one of my favorite times of the year - every volunteer, staff member, and vendor gives 110% effort to deliver the most engaging Christmas for both new and existing congregants. The objecting for Christmas 2022 was to improve the lighting experience - setting itself apart from the typical Sunday Service atmosphere.

Similar to other events in 2022, I spend a month putting together rental quotes, planning weight/electrical/data requirements and limitations, and ideating the most optimized design for the Christmas services. Adding 12 Vari-Lite PLCYC1 MKII, 8 ROBE Spikies, and 4 HES SolaSpots opened up new design choices and added more dynamics to the rig than what’s normally available on a traditional Sunday at the ARIA Venue.

To be honest, I missed a couple of my intended design goals - plenty of “lessons learned” this time around. However, I was able to put together a design both in the Sanctuary and in the lobby that brought both a traditional and a contemporary Christian Christmas vibe. While I am normally just a volunteer at River Valley Church, I have always had a great experience working as contracted vendor with the church. Hoping to apply my notes from 2022 to Christmas in 2023
