Wayside Recovery Center - Celebrate Hope (11/12/2022)

The Wayside Recovery Center celebrated their their 67th Anniversary of their organization by hosting an in-person fundraiser and entertainment event called “Celebrate Hope” at The Music Box Theater. The night was dedicated to celebrating the hope of recovery from substance abuse and mental health for women and their families. The night was full of comedy, sharing of personal journeys, and musical performances.

It was a pleasure to be invited back to The Music Box Theater. Each performing act at the venue challenges me in different artistic ways - this event was no different. The theme for this show, from an L1 perspective, was on-the-fly busking. I was given 2 hours to listen to each performing act for the night and build a flexible look for each subject on stage. Luckily, I was familiar with the in-house showfile and was able to pre-program several looks to execute on the fly. With how important the purpose of the event was - I wanted to ensure everyone was engaged and impacted by the comedy and musical acts for the night.
